Happy World Tourism Day - 2013

World Tourism Day of 2013 which is to be celebrated and absorbed by people from across the globe on 27th of September is celebrated under a theme ‘Tourism and Water: Protecting Our Common Future’. The official celebrations of this year WTD will take place in Maldives, and the theme will mainly focus on water access and the actions presently taken by the sector sequentially to contribute to an additional sustainable water prospect along with confront forward. The main focus this year is on saving the vital resource of water that is needed by all of us.

Targeted at making certain of the tourism sector's part to protect the water resources, this year celebration of WTD in Maldives will comprise a High-Level Think Tank which will fetch jointly civic and personal tourism stakeholders and water specialists to create rules and tactics.

Recognizing the vital and crucial importance of tourists and tourism all across the globe, it is an observance by UN and is not a civic holiday. The theme for each year stands different like for example: the host for 2009 was Ghana and the theme was ‘Tourism-Celebrating Diversity’. Tourism has become one of the perfect sources of income for many developing countries which are developing along with the increasing number of tourists in the country.

Several competitions take place including tourism areas presentation, photos promoting tourism etc. Among others are the discount entries or special or free entries of tourism place according to their interest. Various government, leaders or business representatives of travel companies may also announce publicly about special tours to promote both of their region and World Tourism Day at once. People working on several tourist organizations have a top interest on this day, as it marks the vital importance of tourism on the same day. Tourism is one of the fastest growing industries throughout the world; the dynamics of tourism has developed many places which are now keen places of interests for tourists. Tourism has aided a lot to many countries in bringing up the socio-economy of the country.   

As a part of the celebration Manipur Tourism forum will be organizing competition and certain activities at the Loktak Lake surrounding Area like : Photography Competition, Local Boat Racing by Bishnupur District Canoeing and Kayaking Association, Manipur Tourism Forum in association of MMTA wills also organizing a one day Water Adventure activities camp. Individual and groups will have the opportunity to experience water adventure activities like water Skiing, water Zorbing, Air Boat etc.
‎In late September of 1979, UNWTO determined to organize World Tourism Day which was initially celebrated on September 27, 1980. The birthday of the implementation of the UNWTO Statutes on September 27, 1970 was taken as the date for World Tourism Day owing to the fact. As the dates come at the time of ending the high tourist season in the northern hemisphere and commence the tourist season of the southern hemisphere, the UNWTO supposed it to be a suitable date. 

Clean and reachable water is very much needed for tourism which largely depends on water from restaurants, hotels, transportation to leisure activities.

Happy World Tourism Day!!! September 27 is celebrated as World Tourism Day. Just celebrating it as any day is not the motto of tourism Day. Every year there is an agenda or theme which empowers the world to get protected or it can be say it leads a way to act something which protects the whole world. Tourism is one of the world's largest economic sectors and this year it has already taken one big step to protect sustainable energy for all.  With perspective of protecting the sustainable energy new innovative clean energy solutions have been introduced. Important steps have already been taken towards the future by improving energy efficiency, and renewable energy technologies are increasingly being used in its operations. While helping to protect the planet, many of these steps are creating jobs and helping to lift people out of poverty.

Main aim of World Tourism Day is to create awareness among the humanity about the importance of tourism and its social, cultural, political and economic value. Telling all of us to work together for our as well as for our next generation with United Nations Millennium Development Goals and to contribute a hope of liveliness to many lives.

In the past decades tourism has grown at its significant with improving a good standard of living and being a helping hand for many needy. Ensuring environmental sustainability is a must do activity. Therefore, it has act with climate change by reducing its emissions of harmful gas, which at present represent 5% of the total. However, tourism not only contributes to global warming: at the same time it can be said also a victim of it. When it comes to talk about “sustainable tourism”, we are not particular on one means; we have to analyze cultural, beach or adventure tourism. Every form and circumstances of tourism must necessarily be sustainable and should be taken into due consideration. It is a fallacious expectation to think that “an immense quantity of energy and resources are available, that it is possible to renew them quickly, hence the negative effects of the exertion of the natural order can be easily absorbed”.

Tourism depends on effective transportation and it is in the transportation industry where many of these innovations are most evident. With an perception of sustainable energy, The aviation industry is implementing new technologies that are reducing the overall weight of aircraft and consequently reducing the amount of fuel consumed. Commercial aircraft are also increasingly using bio fuels in their fuel mix. Large cruise ships have started using of renewable fuel.

Hotels around the world have also become much more energy saving conscious, with energy saving light bulbs showing the right path in many locations. Tour operators are promoting awareness of energy efficient procedures throughout their supply chains. With a clean energy solution we can have a drastic effect on the reduction of the carbon emissions generated by the tourist industry. Being such an enormous global industry, these reductions can make a symbloic difference worldwide.

It has been estimated that during 2012, around a billion international tourists are expected to travel. This presents a major challenge. It is seen as a time to promise to a more sustainable tourism sector, with a sustainable future for all.

UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-Moon, respond these thoughts when he thanked tourists for playing their part in offsetting their own carbon emissions, whether by choosing ecologically friendly destinations and providers, or simply by not having their towels laundered every day. These sustainable energy steps always benefit the world and not just the tourism industry said Mr Rifai (Secretary-General of UNWTO) and he urged all tourism stakeholders, whether they be governments, businesses, or tourists themselves, to play their part in helping to achieve the UN's sustainable energy goals. All of the sectors involved (businesses, local communities, governments and tourists) must be aware of their respective responsibilities in order to achieve sustainable forms of tourism. Collaboration between all the parts involved is necessary.

Happy World Tourism Day - 2011

Today September 27, World Tourism Day 2011 is celebrated under the theme Tourism – Linking Cultures, an opportunity to highlight tourism’s role in bringing the cultures of the world together and promoting global understanding through travel. “The message on this World Tourism Day is that, thanks to tourism, millions of people from different cultures are being brought together around the world like never before,” said UNWTO Secretary-General, Taleb Rifai. Everyday huge numbers of people travel the world, this contrive the interactions between individuals and communities, get to know their diverse cultures, and to respect and have mutual understanding which ultimately is fabricating a more peaceful world.

World Tourism Day is celebrated annually on 27 September. Its purpose is to foster awareness among the international community of the importance of tourism and its social, cultural, political and economic value. The event seeks to address global challenges outlined in the UN Millennium Development Goals and to highlight the contribution the tourism sector can make in reaching these goals.

The UN World Tourism Organization (UNWTO) has announced the five photos and five “tweets" from among the hundreds of entries submitted to the 2011 World Tourism Day (WTD) competitions that best reflect the 2011 theme, “Tourism – Linking Cultures." The winning photos, featuring Korean women celebrating India’s Holi Festival and a young tourist backstage at the Chinese Opera Theatre, alongside a selection of finalists, will be displayed as part of a photo exhibition in Aswan, Egypt, the host of the official WTD celebrations, “It is extraordinary how a simple photo, or just 140 characters, can highlight what makes our sector so special: its ability to link the cultures of the world,” said UNWTO Secretary-General, Taleb Rifai.

Few countries in the world have such an ancient and diverse culture as India's. Stretching back in an unbroken sweep over 5000 years, India's culture has been enriched by successive waves of migration which were absorbed into the Indian way of life. It is this variety which is a special hallmark of India. Its physical, religious and racial variety is as immense as its linguistic diversity. Underneath this diversity lies the continuity of Indian civilization and social structure from the very earliest times until the present day. Modern India presents a picture of unity in diversity to which history provides no parallel. India has a variety of religions, festivals, rituals, artifacts, monuments, costumes, music and dance, language and literature. Just in some words it can’t be described you must come and visit to explore the culture of India.

The Indian society is not a uniform one. This is a natural corollary to the fact that diversity is a part of Indian way of life. From region to region, diversity in the social structure is prominently seen. The north Indian social traditions and customs are markedly different and so those of the eastern India from those of other parts of the country. And here lies the tantalizing element of mystery associated with India.
